Voron Zero/Tri-Zero

After having mixed experiences with early 3D printers and cheap newer models I decided that I want a printer that does not have major flaws right out of the box. When a few youtubers started to show off their Voron printers I quickly knew I need one too.

So after justifying to my self, that I really need yet another 3D printer I bought a Voron V0.1 kit from Formbot on Aliexpress.

Of course when I had it putt together I hat to claim the obligatory serial number for my Voron.

V0.1500, yay!

Unfortunately I was not able to get the stock extruder to work decently.
It would often jam or grinds somewhere in the housing.
Not unheard of sadly.

As a suitable replacement I chose an Orbiter V1.5. For this to fit, I had to modify the 3d printed toolhead parts significantly.

With this issue fixed the printer was running very nicely and printing at 300mm/s or more was no longer a mere fantasy.

This printer praises to be no-compromise and engineered to almost perfection. But the printbed has to be manually leveled :(

Tri-Zero #

Luckily a couple of like minded crazy dudes went ahead and did their own improved designs based on the Voron Zero.
One that caught my eye was the Tri-Zero by zruncho3d.

That’s basically a mostly original Voron Zero, but with a Trident inspired, belted, Z axis.
The fact that only a few additionally parts were required, was also a quite nice touch.
After a short shopping spree on Aliexpress and a month of international shipping later, I had everything to turn my Voron Zero into a Tri-Zero.

With this major upgrade of the printer underway I took the opportunity to also replace the stock x-beam with this stunning CNC machined ultra-lightweight marvel of engineering.

Klipper was not that easy to set up for this build, partly because of the two additional motors for the z axis, but also because of the new Bigtreetech Manta M8P board I used for this.

Finished Tri-Zero

So, the printer is finished.
At least for now.

The future will tell if it’s really done or if I find an excuse to change some stuff on this printer yet again.
